Refractory Resins

The Ivarez 33 is a novalac shell resin in powder form. Powder resins are essentially modified or unmodified solid novolacs that are ground to a powder consistency and mixed with other additives depending on the application.

Field of Application:

  1. Refractories
  2. Friction
  3. Abrasives
  4. Felt bonding
  5. Wood molding

Features:

High Temperature Stability, Low in Monomer

Appearance Creamish Powder
Melting Point ° C 70 – 75
Gel Time (at 150℃,Hot Plate ) 20 – 55 secs
Norton Flow ( at 125℃) 15 – 60 mm
Hexamine Content 8 – 12 %
Particle Size (BSS +200 Mesh) Max. 1%
Shelf Life (Stored at or below 20℃) 180 days

Note: Has a hygroscopic nature.

Ivarez 502, Ivarez 504 & Ivarez 509 are Novolac resin solutions used in refractory applications. They are modified refractory resins with medium viscosity ranges. These resins have long storage lives, are easy to handle at room temperature & have high carbon yields.

Field of Application:
Ivarez 502: It is used in the manufacture of Tape Hole Mass, Trough Mass; as catalyst Hexamine used for curing is 3- 4 %.

Ivarez 504: It is used in the manufacture of magnesia carbon bricks as binder with Hexamine addition of 3 – 5 %. This resin is also used in Slide gate refractories and alumina carbon refractories.

Ivarez 509: It is used in the manufacture of Mud Gun Mass as binder. It is a self curing resin. Self curing takes place because of resol.
